Powerpoint, for better or for worse, shapes how we deliver the research findings back to clients. i always thought “Wake me up when the data is over”, part of a book title on storytelling in organisations, captures one of the pain points of presentations. Even qualitative researchers can be guilty of telling clients all about the data we collected, rather than addressing the business issues in an engaging way. The internet now provides an amazing range of resources which means people don’t have to rely on expensive courses to see how others are using powerpoint.
One of the recent trends has been the Lessig style of presenting. I have found this style works for conference presentations. Click here for a blog post which has examples of this style.

What a great post. Powerpoint slides are overrated and you’ve brought forward some of the best. Combine them with compelling stories drawn from qualitative research findings and you’ll be make your point come alive.
BTW, there’s a chapter in Wake Me Up When the Data Is Over that talks about story use in marketing research.
Thanks!
